Version history.Setting up Connectwise Control on macOS In cases where remote control was working on a macOS Still, it seems much of this could be streamlined.
Any updates on this issue please? I have a few headless Mac servers I am wanting to upgrade to Mojave, but cannot do that until this is resolved. Could you elaborate on what didn't work? I can connect and see the screen, but cannot control using the keyboard or mouse. I'll contact support. Hey all.
I'm pretty familiar with Mojave's ins and outs. It seems to work OK on machines that haven't had SC on them before, but the ones I have tried with existing SC connections even after ending and reinstalling do not appear to work properly I've just tried deleting and adding again from the privacy screen and on the second attempt, it worked Thanks for the update.
I've got two remote macs both on Mojave Host is also I hope there is a fix soon. I believe you can fix this if you have physical keyboard and mouse access to the remote computer.
It seems that this process must be repeated each time the ConnectWise Control agent updates. Since posting this topic a few weeks ago I have had to repeat this on each In each case remote terminal commands always work. I think it was step 9 I missed initially. This will be a nightmare if you have to do this after every update though as a lot of my Macs are headless. As a couple of us have pointed out, this does seem to relate to changed security built into the macOS Mojave update. In other words, much of this might be the same with any remote control tools aside from Apple's remote desktop or VPN.
Still I think ConnectWise Control could be a bit more straightforward on this. It would be great to see it check for this new security allowance, be more consistent with asking the system for control as much as Apple allows thisand most importantly, keep remote control allowance through ConnectWise agent upgrades. Version 6. In a future release if ConnectWise release a signed application you can give accessibility access using Jamf by creating a configuration profile.
Ask Different is a question and answer site for power users of Apple hardware and software. It only takes a minute to sign up.
Built-in VNC server works perfectly when you connect for the first time after reboot, however if you disconnect from it for more than five minutes you can't connect again - it displays the username that was used for the last session and a spinning wheel. Connecting via ssh and killing screensharingagentd doesn't help, only a reboot does.
I've verified all the power saving settings are off. Multiple connections work fine with that setting disabled. Hope this helps. From this article :. Apple have added a new security layer to macOS After upgrading your Mac to Mojave, VNC Server will allow only view-only remote access until such time as you've granted access to the vncagent application installed as part of VNC Server.
Using this method you are connecting via the cloud using RealVNC to negotiate a session. Using RealVNC client connecting to Macs own "ScreenShare" utility, via bonjour or local IP address, does not use the RealVNC server, and works for the first few attempts, but leave it for 5 minutes without logging in, then try again and it fails exactly as described, Lockscreen with User's name and picture, but a spinning wheel beneath, with no option to login.
Stopping and starting ScreenSharing only kills the window with the spinning wheel, it has no other effect. Not a fix, but another work-around to clear the locked spinny screen is to access the mac physically and log out the user. My Mini is in a server closet, close to my desk, so this is annoying but not too difficult.

Method 1 of Purpose: VNC allows you to remotely send keyboard and mouse input across a network or the internet from one computer to another and even view exactly what is on the screen of the other computer.
This allows you to control a computer like you were sitting in front of it from another room, another building, or even another country depending on the setup.
How it works: In the most basic of terms when you connect to a remote machine through VNC you see in a window the screen of the remote machine and you are able to control it as if you were sitting in front of it.
Any actions taken through the window directly affect the remote machine. The components: The Server: The VNC server is the computer whose screen you want to share, this computer runs the server software allowing other computers to connect and control it.
